Why homeowners choose Sauna Friend

Sauna specialists — not a general contractor who’s done one before.

Sauna specialists — saunas are all we build, not a side job
Licensed electrical coordination, done to code
White-glove assembly — crate to first burn
Manufacturer relationships & member pricing
Warranty support that protects your investment
We build any prefab — sourced through us or not
Service & Workmanship Guarantee
Every build is backed by our craftsmanship guarantee — if something isn’t right, we make it right.

Three services, integrated.

From sourcing the right unit through our manufacturer partners to a finished, functional sanctuary. Each can be hired separately. Most members book them as one package — and members who source their sauna through us get a discount on assembly.

Service 01

Sourcing, Assembly & Site Prep

Start with sourcing: we help you choose and order the right sauna through our manufacturer partners at member pricing — so you’re covered A–Z. Then the build: site walk, foundation verification, professional crew, trim and finish work, level confirmation, and first-burn walkthrough. We also handle the prep that comes before the build — deck platforms, leveling, and pavers for smaller saunas. Already bought elsewhere? We assemble that one to the same standard.

Service 02

Electrical Estimates & Hookup

Heater wiring, line runs, and terminations at the sauna. Estimates handled in-house. Permits and licensed work coordinated through our Colorado electrical sub. The homeowner never pulls a permit — that responsibility stays with our licensed electrician.

Service 03

Interior & Exterior Protection

Pro Saunas Sauna Wax for the interior. Osmo 410 UV Protection Oil for exterior wood you want to keep brown — a natural, water-based finish applied as a two-coat treatment with a 1-year application warranty. Both extend the wood’s life and preserve the build over time.

Buy your sauna through us

Source the sauna through Sauna Friend, and assembly comes at a member discount.

You don’t have to buy the unit from us to hire our crew — we assemble saunas sourced anywhere to the same standard. But when you source through Sauna Friend, you get member pricing on the sauna and a reduced rate on the assembly package. One relationship, from the model decision to the first burn.

Most homeowners quickly see why a specialist build protects the investment.

From purchase to first burn (A-Z) — or anywhere in between.

Most members come to us before they’ve chosen a sauna. We help with the sourcing decision, source the unit through our manufacturer relationships at member pricing, and handle the build start to finish. That’s the full service.

But some members already have a sauna on the way — or already sitting in pieces in the garage. We build for them too. The assembly is the same standard either way.

A message from the founder

“I started Sauna Friend because I wanted to do more than sell saunas for someone else. Now I get to help individuals and communities build real sanctuaries — the right tools, cohesive practices, and high-quality work behind all of it. With my background in this industry — as both a contractor and a functional health coach — I’ve found something I genuinely love doing, and I’m teaching others to do it alongside me. It’s good work.”

The products we work with most often

Thermory  ·  SaunaLife  ·  Auroom  ·  Clearlight  ·  Harvia  ·  HUUM  ·  Saunum  ·  Finnmark  ·  ThermaSol  ·  Almost Heaven

We source most outdoor and indoor sauna builds through these manufacturers. If you’ve chosen a different brand and need professional assembly, we still build it — and we may even be able to source it for you. Assembly quality doesn’t depend on where the unit came from.

Also: sauna refurbishment

Already own a sauna that needs work? We refurbish, too.

Door and seal repairs, flashing, roof and panel work, heater and electrical checks, and refinishing tired exterior wood — we bring older and weather-worn saunas back to a clean, safe, well-running state. Every refurbishment is priced from a custom quote, since no two are alike.

Meet David

A quick hello from the founder.

“Hi, I’m David. We specialize in assembling premium indoor and outdoor saunas throughout Colorado. Whether you’ve already purchased one or are still deciding, we’d love to help. Fill out the form below and we’ll usually get back to you within one business day.

Why the build matters

The build details that decide whether your sauna lasts twenty years.

A sauna isn’t complicated equipment. But it lives in a brutal environment — high heat, high humidity, freeze-thaw cycles, and twenty years of regular use. Build details that would survive in a normal room fail in a sauna.

Every month, we walk into installations someone else built and see the things that show up at year three or year five — bench supports under-fastened, heater guards against manufacturer spec, vapor barriers seamed the wrong direction. The details that don’t announce themselves the first week, but surface when the wood splits or the bench works loose.

The cheap install isn’t the cheap install. It’s the install plus the repair, plus the replacement, plus the warranty fight.

That’s why we specify everything: bench supports placed per the design specs, heater placement per the manufacturer’s specs, electrical that matches published guidance rather than what’s cheapest to wire. The members we work with don’t have to learn the difference between a build that holds and a build that fails — we just hand them the one that holds.

Why Sauna Friend

We’re on a mission to help people and communities create sanctuary — and live regenerated.

That mission shows up in the work. Members stay with us for the things that are hard to fake:

  • Attention to detail on every build, inside and out
  • Customer service that actually answers — and follows through
  • An honest approach: we tell you what we’d do in your place
  • Competitive member pricing that respects the relationship

Why members source through us.

Buying the sauna through Sauna Friend isn’t required to use our assembly service. But for the members who do, it changes the experience.

01 — Member Pricing

Members who source through us receive pricing not available through retail. We’re transparent about what models we carry and what they cost during the consultation, not in marketing copy.

02 — One Point of Contact

Sourcing, delivery coordination, electrical coordination, assembly, and protection all run through Sauna Friend. One number to call when something matters.

03 — Manufacturer Escalation

When a delivery shows up damaged, when a part is missing, when something doesn’t fit right — we handle the manufacturer conversation. The member doesn’t sit on hold.

04 — The Full Consultation

Sourcing through us means the consultation starts before the sauna is chosen. We walk through the space, the use case, the climate, and what will actually hold up — before any commitment.

The Exterior Preservation Package.

For members who want to keep the wood brown.

Thermally modified sauna wood — Thermory, SaunaLife’s exterior cedar, Auroom’s exterior treatments — silvers naturally over time when left unfinished. The wood handles it. Many members choose that path: zero maintenance, beautiful silver patina, the look you see on Norwegian mountain cabins.

For members who want to preserve the original brown color, we apply Osmo 410 UV Protection Oil (clear) in a two-coat treatment — a natural, water-based finish with no added biocides. Prefer a different product? We’ll walk through the options.

Sauna exterior wood finish
Sauna exterior wood preservation finish
What’s included
  • Surface preparation and verification of moisture content
  • Two-coat application of Osmo 410 UV Protection Oil — natural, water-based, clear
  • Application warranty: 1 year. If the finish fails from application or product defect within the first year, we come back and fix it.
  • Recommended reapplication: every 3 to 5 years depending on sun exposure and elevation. Members who want the long-term maintenance handled can book us for the reapplication when the time comes.
Why Osmo 410
  • A natural, water-based oil — no harsh chemicals and no added biocides
  • Microporous finish that lets the wood breathe — won’t crack, peel, or flake
  • Strong UV protection that holds the original wood tone far longer than an untreated surface

The default for our exterior builds is natural silvering with no finish. The Exterior Preservation Package is an opt-in upgrade for members who want to hold the original color.

The Interior Wax Package.

For the inside of the sauna — the benches, the wall paneling, the door — we apply Pro Saunas Sauna Wax. A water-based, sauna-specific wax formulated to resist the heat-and-humidity environment that destroys ordinary finishes.

Interior sauna bench and paneling detail after wax
What it does
  • Resists moisture penetration and staining
  • Prevents resin bleed on softwood species
  • Maintains the warm color of the interior wood for the long run
  • Recommended by sauna manufacturers and used on professional builds

Pro Saunas Sauna Wax is the standard we reach for on interior wood. The Interior Wax Package is an optional add-on — choose it when you want the interior sealed and protected from the first burn.

Before we send a quote, we run the checklist.

A clean estimate depends on knowing what we’re walking into. We send members a short pre-build checklist before the quote so we can price the work honestly the first time, instead of revising it three times after.

  • Site access (driveway width, fence gates, stairs)
  • Foundation status (concrete pad, deck platform, paver base, sonotubes)
  • Electrical service location and panel capacity
  • Heater specification and amperage requirements
  • Distance from panel to sauna
  • Sauna model, dimensions, and weight
  • Indoor vs. outdoor vs. covered exterior
  • Roof clearance and door swing
  • Timeline expectations and target completion
  • Whether the sauna is already on site or on the way

“This is an outstanding company. My wife and I live in Fort Collins. We did our research and found Sauna Friend. David, the owner, worked with us to get a high-quality sauna — responsive, knowledgeable, and honest. He had it delivered, assembled it, and removed all the packaging. I highly recommend purchasing a sauna from Sauna Friend.”

“Sauna Friends were exceptional! They fixed my sauna door, added flashing, and reinstalled my sauna roof. I looked for sauna-specific professionals so I could be confident they’d know what they’re doing — and they did. They gave me advice on increasing heat and confirmed my electrical was correctly installed. I’d go with them again.”

“Worthy of 10 stars! Went above and beyond to ensure we had full understanding in everything — the sauna we purchased, the ordering, delivery, and setup. Absolutely love our sauna and worth every penny. David was incredibly knowledgeable and went out of his way to over-deliver. Highly recommend working with David!”

Questions, answered

Frequently asked questions.

The things homeowners ask most before they book. Don’t see yours? Ask in the quote form.

How long does installation take?
Most assemblies take four to eight hours on site. Larger builds, protection packages, and electrical can add time — we’ll give you a clear timeline with your quote.
Do I need an electrician?
Most saunas need a dedicated circuit. We coordinate licensed electrical as part of the project so the heater is wired safely and to code — you don’t have to source it separately.
Can you install a sauna I purchased elsewhere?
Yes. You don’t have to buy through us. We assemble saunas sourced anywhere to the same standard — Thermory, SaunaLife, Almost Heaven, Finnmark, and virtually any quality prefab.
Can you remove the crate and packaging?
Yes. We handle unpacking and haul-away of crating and packaging as part of a white-glove install so you’re left with a finished sauna, not a cleanup job.
Can you install on gravel, or do I need a foundation?
Smaller saunas can sit on a level gravel or paver pad; larger units do best on a deck platform or proper foundation. We verify the site and handle prep — leveling, pavers, or a deck platform — before the build.
Do I need permits, and who pulls them?
It depends on your municipality and whether new electrical or structures are involved. We’ll flag what your project likely needs and coordinate permitting where required.
How much space is required?
Plan for the sauna footprint plus clearance for venting, the door swing, and service access. Share your model in the quote form and we’ll confirm exact requirements.
Can you install indoors?
Yes — we do both indoor and outdoor installs, including basements and dedicated wellness rooms, with attention to clearances, venting, and electrical.
How far do you travel?
We serve the Denver Metro, the Front Range, Boulder, and north to Fort Collins. Outside that range? Reach out — we’ll let you know what’s possible.
